Mr. Barksalot's Bath Graph

Welcome to your Math Blog. It is a place for you to post answers to questions and to communicate to the world about what happens in 8-17 Math. I would like you to leave a comment answering the following question. Some of this work will have to be done in your math journal. The bold print can be left as a comment.

Bobby fills a sink with enough water to wash his dog Mr. Barksalot. He then puts Mr. Barksalot in the sink and washes him. After he is finished he takes Mr. Barksalot out of the sink. Then he drains the sink.

Draw a graph that represents the level of water in the sink from the time paula started to fill the tub until the tub was empty. Clearly label your graph.

Explain what the graph should look like in a comment on this post AND on the back of your graph.

Hey Mr.H do you want a graph for Bobby filling the sink or do you want one for paula filling the tub or do you want one for both.

In a line graph it would look like a triangle because it would start at a zero then the line would start to go up all the way to 100% when bobby fills the sink. Then the line would start to go back down from the 100 point back to zero when bobby emptys the sink.

Paula or Bobby. It is the same question.

In the beginning of the line graph the line should go up and down. It should look like this because when Bobby put Mr.Barksalot in the sink, water would have came out. Then, Bobby would have filled the sink once more because there wouldn't be enough water to continue bathing the dog. In the end when he drains the sink, the line would go down in an angle.

At the beginning of the line graph, the line would start at zero. As bobby fills the sink, the line would go up. Before bobby puts in mr. barksalot, the sink will be full. When bobby puts mr. barksalot in the sink, the line will increase to its maximum height due to mr. barksalot's weight. After bobby is done washing mr. barksalot and takes out mr. barksalot from the sink, the water will be slightly lower than before he put mr. barksalot in because some of the water will be absorbed in mr. barksalot's fur. When bobby starts to drain the sink, the line would start to go back to zero. In the end, the graph would like a triangle.

Just after the start of the bath, the water will go down as a result of putting the dog into the sink. Then, at the end of the bath, the line will go down because bobby would of started to drain the sink.

In the line graph, should the line look like only one mountain?

For the graph, you start out with bobby or paula or whatever filling the sink. After you put Mr. Barksalot in the sink, the water will start to drain due to Mr. Barksalot's fur absorbing the water. After the Mr. Barksalot is done, the water will start to drain so the graph would go down until it reaches 0.

The line graph would look like a triangle or a mountain.

Before Bobby puts enough water, the sink will be empty. As Bobby fills the sink, the water will go up. After washing Mr.Basksalot the water will go down because it will get absorbed in Mr.Barksalot's fur. The water will be empty when Bobby drains the sink.

*what the line graph should look like:

It would start at zero before Bobby fills the sink. It will go up as Bobby fills the sink with enough water to wash Mr.Barksalot. After washing Mr.Barksalot the water would go down. It will go back to zero when Bobby emptys the sink.

the graph should look like a mountain.

It starts off with an empty sink. Bobby fills the empty sink with water. The amount of water changed from 0% to a 100%. Then he puts Mr. Barksalot in the sink to give him his bath. After, Bobby takes Mr. Barksalot out of the sink. Bobby drains the sink so the amount of water changed again from 100% to 0%
