A good definition for percent is that it is out of one hundred and can be converted to a decimal fraction and a ratio. The symbol for percent is % and it is written like this 25%.

three fifths (3/5) is the same as 3:2 3+2=5 3/5, 60% 3 / 5=0.6x100=60% 0.6 5 / 3=0.6

80 / 100=0.8 x 35=28
100 / 100=1%
80 / 100=0.8
0.8x35%=28
80 / 80=1
1x100=100
100 / 80=0.8
